Congratulations to 104 of our Seniors – Class of 2012 – who have been ADMITTED to San Diego State University!  You read that correct, 104 of our current 426 students have been accepted and admitted to SDSU. This is a reflection of the commitment of our teachers, staff, parents, AND students to continuing Conquistador higher education!  Congratulations to ALL!

FROM THE COUNSELING OFFICE

The Counseling Office is looking for donations of new or "gently" used t-shirts for students who do not adhere to the school dress code policy.  There is a great need for small and medium sizes. The shirts can have logos or graphics on them, as long as they are school appropriate!

Naviance (www.connection.naviance.com/serra) is a free web-based service designed especially for students and parents to get information about college and career choices, track academic progress, and search for scholarships.  Students can log in using their Student Connect log in number and password. Parents can get their code from Counselor Ms. Turnberg by emailing their request to mturnberg@sandi.net.

Serra High School’s 1st Annual Purple Day a Success!  Serra High School’s Circle of Friends club recently held its first annual Purple Day!  This internationally honored day (officially observed on March 26th) brought attention and awareness to epilepsy, a neurological disorder that causes seizures.  The Circle of Friends club honored this important cause to educate the campus about this life-threatening condition and what to do if someone you know is having a seizure. On the day of then event, the school’s campus was flooded with students and staff wearing purple clothing and purple awareness ribbons. The club members also worked together to make creative and vibrant awareness posters and posted them around the campus. To read more about Purple Day, go to http://www.purpleday.org/.  For more information about the Circle of Friends club at Serra High School, please contact Angela Martin, Speech-Language Pathologist, at amartin1@sandi.net.
