PROM NIGHT 2012 IS HERE! This year’s theme is, "All That Jazz." Prom will be held at the El Cortez in Downtown San Diego on Saturday, June 2nd from 8:00PM-Midnight.
- Students and guests under the influence of alcohol or any other controlled substance will be denied entrance to the dance and are subject to citation and suspension, which would include a 30 day suspension of extra/co-curricular activities. Parents will be contacted to escort the student home. If parents are unable or unwilling to escort their student home, the student will be remanded to the custody of the San Diego Police Department. Any major disruption will result in a five-day school suspension, which will preclude seniors from participation in all senior activities and the graduation ceremony.

LIFE SAVING LESSONS FOR TODAY’S
TEEN DRIVERS. Safe Driving Program
to be held on Monday, June 11th from 6:00-7:30PM at the Ballard
Parent Center. According to the
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the largest number of teen involved car
crashes occur in the summer months of June, July and August. Because the
San Diego Unified School District Police Department wants all teen drivers to
be safe this summer, we invite you to attend a safe driving program for 15-19
year-old teen driver and soon-to-be drivers and their parents. The program will be held from 6-7:30 p.m., on Monday, June 11, at the
Ballard Parent Center, 2375 Congress Street, San Diego, Calif., 92111. For more
information contact Interim Chief Littlejohn at 619-725-7000 or rlittlejohn@sandi.net,
or Gene Roberts at 619-890-7737 or grobertstex@cox.net.
ATTENTION MILITARY FAMILIES AND SUPPORTERS! A Parent Meeting has been scheduled for Thursday June 7 at 9:30AM in the Family Resource Center, Room 231. We invite all military families and supporters to attend as we will discuss future plans for the Family Resource Center. The Resource Center, established in the fall of 2010, was designed to support the needs of our military families. Now, with the education budget crisis hurting our schools so deeply, it will be critical to have more parent involvement next year to ensure the success of the Center, as the school will have even more limited resources than years past. Feedback is needed as soon as possible from our military families and supporters as to how we can keep the Family Resource Center open and running next school year. Please contact: mbyrd@sandi.net if you are able to attend. Feel free to distribute this email to other military parents or anyone you know who might be interested in joining the group. All are welcome! Thank you for supporting our military families at Serra.
No PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) Next Year. Due to limited resources, Serra will not be able to offer the PSAT next year. This was a difficult decision to make; however, with the deep budgets cuts we are faced with, the school simply cannot afford to provide this service to the students.
GOT AN OLD DIGITAL CAMERA TO DONATE? Serra High School's Photography class
is looking for donations of digital cameras for class use during the fall
semester. If you have a camera
you’d like to donate, we’ll gladly take them off your hands! Please contact Mr. Marc Thomas: mthomas3@sandi.net.
