Changes To The LOP List
We take attendance very seriously and have created the Loss of Privileges (LOP) List to teach the importance of being present and punctual. “Presence” helps to develop persistence and ability to learn. Punctuality is a basic skill required of anyone who wants to get any job and become a responsible, productive adult. In past years, the LOP list focused exclusively on tardies. This year we have expanded it to include unexcused absences and truancies.
Students with a combination of 3 Tardies, Unexcused Absences or Truants in a given class period receive a LOP Point. Students with a combination of 10 cumulative Tardies, Unexcused Absences or Truants receive another LOP Point. Students with one or more LOP Points are placed on the Loss of Privileges List.
Students on the LOP List are not allowed to participate/attend/compete in athletics, band, cheer, dances, pep rallys, field trips and more.

Serra High School is committed to providing a safe and drug free learning environment for each and every one of our students and staff. To that end, Serra High School Administration is renewing their contract with Interquest Detection Canines Inc., to provide trained detection canines to conduct random, unannounced inspections on campus.
These canines are trained to detect the presence of illicit drugs, alcohol, and gunpowder-based items. During the random, unannounced visits, campus buildings, parking lots, and grounds will be randomly inspected for prohibited items. If detected and found, the school will initiate the appropriate disciplinary action.
The first visit of the school year occurred during the morning of September 19th, 2012. These random, unannounced visits will continue throughout the school year.
