FALL OPEN HOUSE 2014
Next Wednesday, September 24th is our Fall Open
House. From 5:00pm to 5:50 we have Club
Fundraisers in Q-Court and a series of parent meetings and elections. (Check
the web site for the most updated schedule) Starting at 5:55 you can visit your students’
classrooms. We will have 6 periods where
our teachers will have 10 minutes a period to share with you information about their
classes. You will be following your student’s schedule so make sure you print
out a copy from the Parent Portal or ask your student for a copy. Can’t find the Parent Portal codes we sent
home in the summer? Just visit the back
of the Administration building between 5:00 and 5:50 and we can give you your
codes. You must bring a photo ID and be
listed as either the primary or secondary parent/guardian on the registration
card to get the codes.

and return to the main office on or before, Monday, September 22, 2014. Elections of new SSC members will be held at the Title I Parent Meeting at 5:15 PM in the Media Center on Open House, Wednesday, September 24, 2014.
Responsibilities: This committee aids in the development and the over-site for the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). The SSC mandate is to promote student achievement through maximization of funds. The committee is comprised of parents, students and staff members. The committee meets eight times a year.
Our first meeting
will be held on Monday, October 6, 2014 in the Media Center. The council will
determine future meeting dates and times at our first meeting.
PSAT
The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test and National Merit
Scholarship Qualifying Test, more common called the PSAT or Practice SAT will
be PSAT administered on Wednesday,
October 15 at 8:48AM. The district is
paying for ALL 10th graders to take the exam. We strongly encourage 11th
graders to take the exam, however they will have to pay the $14 exam fee. 9th grades are also welcome to
take the test but they have to pay the $14 exam fee as well. All 9th and 11th grade
students who wish to take the exam must sign up and pay the $14 College Board
fee to the Financial Office . The
Deadline for signing up is September 24th.
MAKE UP PICTURE DAY
The photographers will return to Serra on Tuesday, September
30th. All students who need
to have a photo taken will be given a set time to report to the gym to be
photographed. Passes will be given to
Period 1 teachers to distribute. If you
student loses or does not get a pass, they can stop by the gym at lunch to get
their picture taken.
DO WE HAVE YOUR CORRECT INFORMATION?
During the heat wave we sent out a series of calls. If you did not get any of them, then we
probably don’t have your correct contact information. It is extremely important that we have the
most up to date contact information.
Please check Parent Portal to verify that your information is
correct. If is not correct, please
contact the school and give us your updated information.
